How we handle your details.
Short version: we keep your email address to send you the newsletter, we never sell it, and it never leaves the platform that sends the emails.
Who we are. Sharespective is a daily newsletter on US markets, written for New Zealand and Australian investors. This page explains what we collect when you subscribe or read the website, what we do with it, and what you can ask of us. It was last updated on 18 September 2026.
What we collect
Your email address. That is what a subscription is. If you give us a name, we keep that too. We do not ask for anything else.
How you read. The platform that sends the newsletter records whether an email was opened and whether a link in it was clicked. We look at this in aggregate, to see which stories land. We do not use it to build a profile of you.
Ordinary web logs. Like every website, the servers that host sharespective.com record the IP address and browser of each visit for security and to keep the site running. We do not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics on the website.
A cookie, if you sign in. If you sign in to manage your subscription, a cookie keeps you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent, trade or share your email address with anyone. We do not pass it to data brokers or advertisers. We do not download or export the subscriber list off the platform that holds it. We do not send anything other than the newsletter and the occasional note about the newsletter itself.
Where your details live
Sharespective is published on Ghost, and your details are held there, on Ghost's hosted service, under Ghost's own privacy policy. Ghost sends the emails on our behalf. Ghost is a non-profit; it does not sell personal data either. That is the only place your address is stored.
What we use it for
To send you the newsletter, six mornings a week. To manage your subscription when you change or cancel it. To understand, in aggregate, what is being read. That is the list.
Your choices
Unsubscribe at any time with the link at the foot of every edition. It works immediately and nobody will ask why.
See, correct or delete what we hold. Sign in to update your details yourself, or ask us and we will send you a copy, fix it, or delete your record entirely.
If you are in New Zealand, the Privacy Act 2020 gives you these rights and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner can help if you think we have got something wrong. If you are in Australia, the equivalent is the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
How long we keep it
For as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you straight away; your record stays on the platform so the unsubscribe holds, and we delete it on request.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the newsletter and update the date at the top of this page.
