Two years of deliveries to one customer, worth US$2.4 billion, against a company that sold US$4.21 billion of everything in 2025. That is the scale of the Amazon order Generac disclosed in a filing on Wednesday evening, and the shares rose on Thursday.
The chart is Generac's revenue by calendar year from 2016 to 2025, taken from its SEC filings. It went from US$1.45 billion to US$4.56 billion in 2022, then fell to US$4.02 billion in 2023, US$4.30 billion in 2024 and US$4.21 billion last year. Amazon's commitment is not on the chart; it is deliveries still to come.
Amazon also received a warrant over Generac shares that vests as it pays, so the buyer has a stake in the seller's share price. Fluence Energy spent the same session showing the other side of the trade: a factory in Houston that could not build batteries fast enough, and a cut to guidance. Sharespective's Friday edition sets the two side by side.
The numbers
Generac's revenue by calendar year in US$bn, 2016 to 2025, from SEC filings, rounded to two decimals. Amazon's US$2.4bn is committed deliveries for 2027 and 2028, not revenue.
